The Smart Card Reader Is Not Configured Properly Install ((full)) -

Windows requires a specific background service to communicate with card readers. If this service is disabled or stopped, the system will fail to recognize the configuration. Press to open the Run dialog box. Type services.msc and press Enter . Scroll down and locate Smart Card . Right-click Smart Card and select Properties . Change the Startup type to Automatic . Check the Service status . If it is stopped, click Start . Click Apply and then OK .

Windows relies on the (SCardSvr) to manage readers and cards. If this service is not running, the "not configured properly" error appears. the smart card reader is not configured properly install

Ask your IT helpdesk or agency portal for the mandatory middleware installer. Install the middleware package completely. Type services

If the error persists after all fixes:

Use the pcsc_scan utility (part of the pcsc-tools package) to see if your reader is detected. Change the Startup type to Automatic

Ensure the smart card is inserted in the correct orientation. Clean the metallic chip on the card with a soft, dry cloth.

The smart card reader appears in Device Manager with a yellow exclamation mark (⚠️), often under Smart card readers or Universal Serial Bus controllers .
