Methodology: A mixed-methods quasi-experimental design was employed across four schools in the Eastern Cape (two rural, two peri-urban). One group (n=120) used standard textbook/teacher methods, while an intervention group (n=115) supplemented learning with curated Mindset Learn video lessons and digital workbooks over an 8-week term (focusing on Geomorphology and Mapwork ). Findings: The intervention group showed a 23% improvement in map-reading skills (p < 0.05) and significantly higher retention of GIS terminology. Qualitative data revealed that Mindset Learn’s visual animations of synoptic weather charts and slope development demystified abstract concepts. However, challenges included inconsistent data access and a lack of live interaction for troubleshooting.
