As the series progressed, Kabuto grew from a secondary henchman into one of the primary antagonists. Following Orochimaru's defeat and apparent death at the hands of Sasuke Uchiha, Kabuto injected himself with his master's DNA, acquiring the Snake Sannin's abilities, memories, and even physical traits—scale-like skin, snake eyes, and a serpentine appearance.
He then "deflates" – a gruesome scene where all the absorbed power drains out of him, leaving behind a shriveled, snake-like husk. Inside that husk, you see a regular human hand. Kabuto physically sheds his monstrous form. It is a metamorphosis, not a fatality. He exits the snake skin alive, albeit exhausted and defeated.
